Like most startups - Spend State was created to solve a problem of my own.
For a while now, in-store and online shopping trips have felt like I'm just choosing from a myriad of options from overseas suppliers. Now don't get me wrong - I appreciate products made in other countries and I do think they have a place in our economy. But, where is my opportunity to support my local community? Where is the option from the local carpenter or machinist?
What if there was a way to search for American-made products only? At the very least, something like that would be a very good research tool. That is Spend State's goal. No more flipping through page after page of the same items with different branding slapped on the front.
Let us consildate products that match your search and you can head right to the vender's site once you find something you like.
And who knows - maybe you'll find a new favorite store to by t-shirts or shoes - or anything else. Now you got something built to last and a local shop has a new customer. Win-win.
The hope is to bring back more jobs to the USA. An honest day's work is a wonderful thing and we need to ensure that anyone who wants to work has a job available. This can't happen if everything we buy is made overseas.
